SHINE A LIGHT ON TIBET was founded by Caroline Scattergood in 1998. The philosophy is ‘Compassion in Action’ and through Caroline’s peaceful and gentle approach endeavours to raise awareness of the suffering that has been inflicted on the Tibetan people and their Country for 50 years. It also helps keep the Tibetan Buddhist lineage alive by being a guardian of their memories. Flying the Flag for Tibet: One of the simplest and yet most powerful ways of raising awareness is the annual flying of the Tibetan Flag, instituted by Caroline in Northampton in 1999 when the Flag flew over the Guildhall for the first time. This is a particularly poignant event since peacefully flying the same flag in Tibet would almost certainly result in imprisonment and possible torture. |

Spreading the Word.
The message of Shine a Light on Tibet is simple. As Caroline says, “It is the small acts of individuals – sending a letter, attending an event, telling a friend, or just keeping a place in your heart and mind for the plight of the Tibetan people – which add up to make a huge and real difference.” His Holiness the Dalai Lama – Compassion in Action Much of Caroline’s inspiration comes from the Dalai Lama himself. “When I first met with the Dalai Lama, his love and compassion was so radiant – almost infectious. His concern for all sentient beings is a great incentive to help others.”. |

If we see every part of this Earth as sacred And every star as a light of love And every humming insect as Holy We cannot fail to spread the light of love to Tibet |

You can make a difference. This is the moment when the Tibetan people need help more than ever. Prayer is powerful but the simple act of writing a letter to governments and prominent people, even flying the Tibetan National Flag in a prominent position, is what’s needed NOW. “Its not just Governments that can bring about change but ordinary people like you and I, as we form a bridge of light over troubled waters. Tibet will shine again!” To find out how you can Shine a Light on Tibet and make a real difference, or if you just want more information, please do get in touch – contact:- |
